Thor Ragnarok Non-Spoilers Review

My Thoughts On Thor Ragnarok.

So for today's blog I wanted to give my quick thoughts for Thor Ragnarok and whether or not I liked the film. Well I mean to start off, yes, I really enjoyed the film from start to finish but of course there are knitpicks here and there. I also wanted to start off with people getting upset with others that say the film is a comedy, well, the thing is that I do believe it's a Marvel comedy. What I mean by this is that Marvel does a great job blending genres for each of their films. Whether it be The Winter Soldier which is a superhero/70's spy thriller or in Thor Ragnarok's case, a sci-f fantasy/comedy. A good amount of characters in the film have their comedic moments such as Thor, Hulk, Surtur, Valkyrie, and Hela.

Don't get me wrong, there are very serious moments with each of the character but Taika Waititi is a generally funny guy and each of his movies has his style of comedy, also, from seeing the movie with a huge audience, I can say his style works very well for the general public. Though one knitpick I have with the film is that the dialogue at times does feel heavy, especially when there is exposition for the overall story, you ask your audience to suspend their belief quite largely in terms of what the characters are talking about. I mean we're dealing with Norse Mythology, gods, and cosmic powers or being, so that's why Waititi's humor works so well. It eases up all the exposition, I also wanted to touch on how well choreographed the action was throughout the film with many crowd pleasing moments, whether it be the fight between Thor and Hulk, or showing off Hela's immense power. Waitii does a good job blending it all together and doesn't just go for the laughs, like I said there is some heavy dialogue but it makes you really take this story serious and how much of a serious threat Hela is to everyone. Valkyrie was probably the biggest standout and once again, her character has a blend of comedy, seriousness, trauma, and immense physical presence when she's on screen.

Then the other standout to me was a two way the between Korg and Hulk, Director Taika Waititi did the motion capture for Korg and everytime he was on screen, I was literally laughing out loud, he without a doubt is the funniest character in the movie. Hulk once again was a blend of many things and you get to really be introduced to Hulk and not Bruce Banner, you understand how Hulk thinks and why he is where he is at the beginning of this film that then leads to interesting and mysterious ending once this movie finishes. Don't get me wrong though, Thor was awesome and you truly get to see why he is known as the God of Thunder, but I feel like the movie skipped out on emotional moments between him and his family, that's the only other gripe I have with the film, I feel like they could've invested more into the family drama. There also is a great small role for another character in the Marvel Universe that lets you know that everthing that is happening in the film is of importance to the whole Marvel Universe. Look, all in all this is in my opinion the best Thor movie, and is also up there in rank with other Marvel movies so please do go treat yourself to an awesome, fun, and funny time. As always thank you for taking time out of your day to read this topic I discussed.
