Batman Detective Comics

Batman Detective Comics Rebirth.

Today I wanted to talk about probably the best DC comic out at the moment, which is the Detective Comics. I've read many of the DC Rebirth comics out right now and while Tom King's beginning run for Batman is probably the best Batman comic we've gotten in a while, but recently it's had its ups and downs. The Detective Comics have had such a good story from the beginning which is issue #934 and up to now, James Tynion IV has written the comic superbly. Basically the Detective Comics start off with Batman assembling a team of Batwoman, Spoiler, Clayface, Orphan, and Tim Drake's Robin. There's a mysterious threat that causes Batman to ask Batwoman if she can train the previous characters I just said to prepare for the threat.

The best thing about the Detective Comics is that you get really good backstory for each character and their motivation to want to do good. We get so much story for each character and the threats they face are some of their past demons. Clayface himself has to deal with the fact that if he stays in Clayface form for too long, he will lose his humanity, and he can't maintain human form either. Then there's Cassandra Cain, Orphan, which is my favorite character of the comic, and it goes into her back story of how she was raised by her father who was an assassin, and she thought her mother was killed. In the comic, she has a hard time speaking because her first language was body language, and she can see all the ways she can quickly kill a person, so she has to try harder to just knock then unconscious.

Also, in the story that's going on right now, my favorite female superhero Zatanna shows up to help the team out a bit and it's pretty cool. We even got Batwing and Azrael in the present storyline, so we get their backstory as well. All in all, yes, we have Batman as the commander for this group, but it's about each character on the team and James Tynion IV isn't afraid to thoroughly write each character out, but in an intriguing way. If you want to get into the Detective Comics, they have three volumes out if you want to start from the beginning, but really you can jump in at any point, the writing and story are superb. As always thank you for taking time out of your day to read this topic I discussed.
