Stranger Things 2 Spoilers
My Thoughts On Stranger Things Season 2 (SPOILERS!!!)
So for this blog I really want to emphasize upfront that I will be talking spoilers for the entire show so great yourself if you haven't watched the show yet, go watch it. So first off, I actually watched Season 1 before all the hype so I wasn't affected by that, but the hype for Season 2 did get to me, luckily, the show goes well beyond whatever hype there was leading up to it. We get so much more character development along with some news characters that never feels forced, or like you're not getting much of one character and a lot of another. My favorite character of the series is David Harbour's character Jim Hopper, partly due to the fact that he's gonna be Hellboy, but also because he's well written and now he has a lot of time with Eleven. I love that in the first episode it ends with him going to his hideout, and then you see Eleven and it makes you wonder what exactly happened.
Of course you find out how she comes back and you get her backstory with her mother finding out she was taken from her but then she gets expiremented on to the point that she could only remember certain words. Eleven ends up communicating with her in the upside down and finds out there's someone like her. Then you get more with Will who is still seeing things from the upside down, and then he gets possessed by the new monster for Season 2. You do really get to see how talented this kid actor is, whether it's when he's possessed or is scared out of his mind. Then of course you got the other kids being awesome little geeks but very intelligent, and leaving the new character Max and her story interweave throughout the whole show. Another thing I really loved was the three teenagers love triangle with Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan, each of them grow so much as characters and that part was my second favorite of the new season.
The overall story makes a lot of sense in terms of the world they made so amazing in the first season. There's a lot more going on in the building Eleven was expiremented in, and you understand that the upside down wants to grow more and more in the real world. I love the looming threat of the new monster and how that isn't exactly wrapped up into a nice little bow at the end of the new season. Look, in short you get everything you'll want in the second season of Stranger Things and more, it does a good job picking up right where it left off. I honestly can't wait for the next season which apparently the writers wanted this show to have a three season story arc.
