Why Aquaman Is My Favorite DC Character

So for today's topic I'd like to discuss my favorite DC character which is Aquaman. Now I'm sure many of you may know about how Aquaman has been the butt of all jokes for quote a long time. Though in recent years Aquaman has, in my opinion, finally been treated fairly and just. Sure, there have been interpretations in the past of Aquaman actually being kind of cool or at least respected. For instance there was a time where he was a badass who had a hook for a hand just like in the "Justice League" cartoon. Even with that, I still didn't feel that Aquaman didn't reach his full potential. So, like I was saying, in recent years there has been and Aquaman comic book run that is known as "Aquaman The New 52". This run was written by Geoff Johns who is also the main man for all the new DC movies. He is in charge of what projects should come next, what needs to the into each other, and things such as that. He first was a writing for movies such as the "Green Lantern" with Ryan Reynolds starring in it. Though, with the whole New 52 storyline, he did many runs for different characters but is mostly known for his run on The Flash and Green Lantern. Now back to what I was saying, he also did the New 52 run for aquaman and that's where I read the full potential of Aquaman and his stories. I implore you to go out and grab the comics even if you not a comic book fan, they are alot of fun and intriguing. So with some backstory of Aquaman's comic past out of the way let's dive into why he's my favorite DC character. First off, no he DOES NOT TALK TO FISH, he explains it himself that he just wills them to do his biding. He never has a conversation with any fish and he also can't fully control them. There are times when their pure animal instinct override whatever he wills them to do. So he isn't anywhere near perfect, being half Atlantean and half human also causes conflict of interest. Humans are afraid of what Atlantis can become and what kind of threat they might be. Atlantean don't fully trust Aquaman since he's not a purebred Atlantean like his younger brother. So these two things put Aquaman in a corner trying to satisfy both but struggling with the fact that one group may say he favors the other group or vice versa. I found this very intriguing and I've always been a big fan of royalty subject matter and the struggles of a king. We could get into all of Aquaman's powers but I'm sure I've rambled on for too long, I just wanted to share why Aquaman is my favorite DC character and what books me into the character. Thank for taking time out of your day to read this and feel free to comment if you would like to discuss something on this matter
