Wonder Woman Makes Over 800 Million

Wonder Woman Crosses 800 Million At The Worldwide Box Office.

So this past weekend Wonder Woman crossed 800 million at the worldwide box office. Batman v. Superman is still ahead of it with I believe a little over 886 million, but without a doubt, Wonder Woman was more than just a success. The only film that has made more than Wonder Woman is "Beauty and The Beast" which made a bit over a billion dollars. I mean I haven't seen Beauty and The Beast but it enters that elite group of movies to cross the billion dollar mark at the box office, so let's just say coming in second this time isn't bad at all. Wonder Woman topped both "Man of Steel" and "Suicide Squad" but even though it's second to "Batman v. Superman" it has the most positive DCEU ratings.

I've said in previous blogs how important Wonder Woman was not just because the DCEU has had fans and critics mixed on the movies, but the importance for women too. What I mean at first is that all DCEU movies before Wonder Woman have had mixed reviews to put it nicely, and with "Justice League" coming out in November, it's important to get fans excited. Wonder Woman was a breathe of fresh air and with its success, people are giving the DCEU another chance. It's important to say how much of an unfair position Wonder Woman was in because it had no part in the previous movies, but Patty Jenkins (director of Wonder Woman) was smart to isolate the movie. She didn't make Wonder Woman a sequel to the previous movies but instead isolated the film in World War I so it had no baggage. Patty Jenkins also worked to the strengths of Gal Gadot who hasn't really had any big roles like Wonder Woman in the past but you can see how she perfectly embodies the character of Wonder Woman.

Now for the second part of my statement, Wonder Woman was without a doubt, an important movie for women everywhere. No matter the age, Wonder Woman gave women a gift they've more than deserved since forever. There hasn't been a high budget female-led superhero movie before Wonder Woman, and for it to get recognition not just from women, but from everyone, shows you how important this character is. The number one thing I took away from Wonder Woman was you can always make a difference. My favorite scene shows just this and it's when they are in the trenches and the war is going on but Steve Trevor says they must continue on and not fight this battle. Which in turn Wonder Woman replies that it's her duty to help even if if it's just to save one little town.

This resonated with me because it showed exactly what Wonder Woman stood for, she protects and shows kindness to every good person. All around the movie was amazing and I can't wait to see Wonder Woman in Justice League. I also wanted to touch on the actress portraying Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot. I've never met her in person, I've just seen interviews and I'm just so happy that she also embodies the characteristics of Wonder Woman whenever the public eye is on her. This is a big deal because there are little girls and boys that really believe she's Wonder Woman and Gal Gadot shows them the kindness they expect and hope for. Look, all in all Wonder Woman deserves everything it's getting whether it be praise or box office success, this movie and character is important to everyone and probably will be for a long time,  at least I hope so. As always thank you for taking time out of your day to read this blog and please comment and share if you liked this topic I discussed.
