New Hellboy Movie Won't Be A Reboot

David Harbour Says Hellboy Will Not Be A Reboot But More Like Indiana Jones.

Appearing on Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, actor David Harbour talks about the upcoming Hellboy. David Harbour is playing the main character Hellboy with supporting cast Ian Mcshane as the professor that is Hellboy's father figure and Milla Jovovich as the "Blood Queen". So on Josh Horowitz's podcast David Harbour discussed how the new Hellboy wont necessarily be a reboot/origin story. He said that yes, of course it's a reboot, but the movie won't be focusing on how Hellboy was created, and how he came to be who he is as he got older. The movie will be more like the first "Indiana Jones" in terms of how when we first meet Indie, he's already going on adventures stealing ancient artifacts.

Then we see a little later in the movie, some of his background like how he's a university teacher and has major knowledge on ancient artifacts. So perhaps we will get something similar to that in Hellboy, where we already meet him as a paranormal investigator with glimpses or mentions of his past. The number one thing that gets me excited is that Hellboy will be Rated-R, I honestly feel like that gives everyone working on the film a little more free space. What I mean is that they don't have to constantly worry whether they are following the guidelines set by the studio. I also don't feel like they are intentionally making Hellboy Rater-R just because they can, but if what they are trying to make, essentially titles the film as Rated-R than at least it happened organically.

It's also been said that the film will focus a lot more on the paranormal investigating and will have a bit more of a serious tone. I personally haven't read the comics but from what I've seen in the art for the comics, it seems very serious. It's okay if the movie has laughs here and there but as long as it fits in comfortably and doesn't feel forced or tacked on. I'm very excited to see this new take on Hellboy since i did love the two films that Guillermo Del Toro made not to long ago. As always thank you for taking time out of your day to read this blog and please comment and share if you liked this topic I discussed.
